To leave the past behind and drop who or what hurt you isn't something that comes easy. It takes a lot of time, persistence and confidence to keep moving forward. The relationship you shared with a specific clan in the past is beside the point at the moment. And if we were to become a cynical, some could argue that was an unholy alliance to begin with it and it was not good for the country.
Therefore, the relationship you had with that clan wasn't built on solid foundation and it fizzled out. So there's no need to reminisce about the past and the culture today in Somalia is every man for himself. It’s odd for anyone to think that kind of affiliation would survive the bloodshed Somalia went through.
Lastly, sometimes the people that we love and respect the most are also the people that are the ones who are hurting us. I believe if every community within the Somali society started in the interior inspection of their community before they move to over all examination of the entire Somalia society. Then we would have made a significant progress by now but still it’s not too late to change our mind-sets, it’s crucial to understand what was good for you might not be so good for others.
